LSIs with millions of gates have already entered a new stage of practical
use, and design and development technologies are about to enter a
new era. What are required now are unprecedented solutions that can
be obtained by combining leading-edge technologies in diverse areas-advanced
device technologies such as ASICs and FPGA/PLD, IP reuse, integrated
software and various design services. To fulfill this requirement,
the event is going to make new strides, becoming a solutions Fair
featuring extensive technological information. Under the new name
"Electronic Design and Solution Fair," we will strive to enhance the
event for visitors by offering a myriad of solutions. |

| The EDSFair has commenced a cooperative relationship
with the U.S. Electronic Design Automation Consortium (EDAC). Based
on this relationship, in June 2001 in Japan and at the DAC in the
United States, joint press releases were issued in Japan and the United
States, and promotional activities for the EDSFair, including those
targeting participants in and attendees to DAC, have been implemented.
By actively inviting the participation of leading Western companies,
centered on members of EDAC and those participating in DAC and DATE,
the organizers of the EDSFair will introduce cutting edge technologies
to Japanese attendees, marking the start of the internationalization
of the EDSFair. |

This
year, the exhibition space in Pacifico Yokohama will be expanded to
use new exhibition halls and an annex hall which were completed in
July. Conferences requiring admission fees will be held in the annex
hall. Conference rooms in the new exhibition hall afford excellent
facilities for exhibitor seminars, which will create a more comfortable
and favorable environment. As a result, total exhibition space expanded,
and amenity space such asaan exhibitor lounge provided. |
